Utah
vehicle bill of sale.

Utah provides Form TC-843 for a vehicle bill of sale. It records the sale, the vehicle and the parties’ declarations. Use the current state PDF, then check the title-transfer process separately: signing a bill of sale is not the same as completing a DMV title application.

Is TC-843 the only way to write a bill of sale?

Utah DMV’s buyer-and-seller guidance allows a bill of sale to be handwritten or typed and printed, using ink. TC-843 is the state’s ready-made option.

The DMV guidance also calls for trade-in details and any allowance when applicable. Its bill-of-sale information page says the purchase price you report must reflect what you actually paid. Use those instructions when your transaction has a trade-in or other price complication.

What happens after the sale?

Open Utah DMV’s title-transfer guidance for the vehicle’s current title situation. Its instructions distinguish a Utah title from an out-of-state title and address the ownership documents to obtain.

The TC-843 PDF also points sellers to the Motor Vehicle Portal for reporting sold vehicles. Keep your completed transaction record together with the separate title and reporting documents.
